At AssetLab Academy we recommend two Managed WordPress hosting companies. These recommendations are based on our own experience using a variety of companies and plans to host WordPress websites. We've used various companies including DreamHost, HostGator, GoDaddy, WP-Engine and various types of hosting plans, everything from Windows Hosting, to Linux Hosting, to Managed WordPress, to website builders. We took in to consideration the level of support received, the ease of the management platform, the written documentation available, and the overall cost to use each company and plan. So, these recommendations are based on a significant amount of practical, real world experience.
GoDaddy and WP-Engine both offer Managed WordPress hosting packages that we recommend. These are very different however. GoDaddy's stats look good but WP-Engine is in a completely different class due to the technology platform that runs the website. We generally recommend the GoDaddy Ultimate Managed WordPress plan for small websites. When websites grow up, or when response time really matters, then WP-Engine is the clear leader. You really do get what you pay for in this case.
Here's a comparison of features, performance, and price.
|GoDaddy Managed Wordpress/Ultimate||WP-Engine Personal|

|SSL Certificates||$69/yr, 1 year free||Included|
