Though AdWords you can bid on search terms, create search advertisements, and get access to the paid search positions on desktop and mobile searches. If you work with a 501c(3) in the USA you have an opportunity to receive a grant from Google that allows you to advertise in search results FOR FREE!

Google Ad Grants Eligibility
Google operates the AdWords Grant program in many countries and the requirements are slightly different in each one.
In the USA organizations must have 501c(3) status and a TechSoup account.
In Canada organizations must be registered Canadian Charities and have a TechSoup account.
For details on other country, look here.
Once your organization meets the required eligibility credentials you can move on to the application.
How To Get A TechSoup Account
Setting up an account is easy if your organization doesn't already have one. Once you create the basic account (at the following location) it goes through a verification process. Once approved you will be able to find out which donation programs you qualify for on the TechSoup platform. This process can take several days depending on the verification process.
Apply For A Google Nonprofits Account
Next up you need to apply for a Google Nonprofits account. The form is simple and you will need one item from TechSoup to complete it, for which there is a direct link on Google's form:
Setup A Google Ad Grants Account
There are two types of accounts that you can apply for. One is overly simple (AdWords Express) and one is a little complex and seriously powerful (AdWords). You definitely want AdWords. It is worth your time to learn a little (or get Pro help) to unlock the additional advertising capability available in AdWords.
Here's where you get going:
Load the page and click the Sign Up button
If you're really not sure what to do, here is something to consider:
- AdWords Express helps particularly with local and location searches
- AdWords also provides access to keyword search results pages
Again, we seriously recommend going for the full AdWords.
Configuring Google AdWords
Now, you get started actually setting up your advertisements and structuring your account. Google has great instructions and overview videos to help you along:
